| | The Need For Entrepreneurship | | One might wonder why care about entrepreneurship in the first place. The answer is actually pretty straightforward. With the growing economy, newer and better opportunities have come as well. But not many have come to our parts of the country. It is true that the big guns of the industry would not come for investments in our lands, but we can always utilize our rich resources to innovate and provide quality services in our own ways. Why should you care to work tediously 14 hours a day writing programs for your boss when ten of you can come up, work, and provide the same services in your own way. At the very first thought it might sound a little too absurd and difficult. Difficult it is of course, but it is not impossible either. Everything big has started somewhere small. And in recent times, with the advent of newer technologies and easy availability of information, an increasing number of people have come up with their own small ventures and have done pretty well too. In Asom, it has to start with us. It will be a bright, beautiful and memorable day for Asom when all our talented young minds start thinking about working here, for our people, for Asom. | | A few crucial areas where we need to particularly work on:
# Power
Although Asom and the entire North East India has rich water resources, we do not produce enough hydro power for our consumtion. We can look at alternatives like Solar Power and other renewable energy sources. These things will need serious concern in years to come as our consumptions rise and our economy grows.
# Agriculture
More than half of our countrymen live on agriculture. Yet not much thought goes into modernising agriculture. Asom has rich fertile lands, and when newer technologies get applied, production may increase manyfold.
# Computer Literacy
One aspect where we have been left behind is computer literacy among school children. Access to information in today's age is of utmost necessity for school goers. Although the government has been taking steps to solve this problem, internet penetration in our state is deplorable still and a real lot needs to be done. | |
